Meet Bowie, the rescued feline with mesmerizing blue and green colored eyes that have stolen the hearts of people all around the world. This unique European Shorthair has a rare condition called heterochromia, which gives his eyes different hues, making him an extraordinary beauty.
Maria Lloret, Bowie’s rescuer and owner from Spain, reveals that the cat is incredibly playful and loves to play with other cats, although not all felines reciprocate the same feelings. In our exclusive interview with Maria, we’ll explore Bowie’s lively and energetic nature and discuss the importance of adopting rescue pets. Don’t forget to show your support by liking your favorite pictures of Bowie!
Although Bowie was named after the legendary English musician David Bowie, Maria admits that the singer did not possess heterochromia. Nevertheless, we cannot help but notice the uncanny resemblance between the two and wonder if the beloved feline possesses any hidden musical talents.

Golly, what an astonishing animal! Its hues are so striking and diverse, it’s like entering a fantastical realm, akin to Willy Wonka’s. From the charming rose hue to the profound azure, the vivid lemon to the luxurious maroon and tan, there’s a wealth of things to admire. I even found myself capitalizing “White” – how peculiar! However, let’s return to appreciating this awe-inspiring feline.
Just like many other felines, Bowie loves snoozing for extended periods and has a voracious appetite. As per his owner, Maria, there’s no type of food that he dislikes. Whenever he spots treats, he starts purring incessantly. His most cherished playthings are small mice that emit sounds when jostled, and it’s entertaining to watch him toss them in the air and deftly catch them. Bowie’s early life was not easy – he was left abandoned in a park at just three months old. However, fortune smiled upon him, as he was rescued by a nearby animal shelter in Maria’s hometown of Benidorm, where he found his forever home.
Maria and her sister were instantly smitten with Bowie after discovering an ad for a family seeking to adopt a feline companion. Bowie’s charming personality, coupled with his striking appearance and unwavering purrs, quickly won them over. Upon arriving at their home, Bowie eagerly devoured his meal before snuggling up with Maria for a nap.
Maria’s passion for rescuing animals shines through as she shares that all of her cats are rescues. For her, adopting from shelters is a crucial way to save precious lives. While there are numerous animals in need of loving homes, Maria actively advocates for the adoption of black cats. She believes they are often overlooked due to unfounded superstitions. In fact, one of her previous feline companions, Louis, was a black cat who initially struggled with poor health. However, with care and affection, he blossomed into an amazing companion. The family still remembers him fondly.
The individual who owns Bowie, a black cat with heterochromia, has acknowledged that cats that are elderly, disabled, or unwell are typically the last to be adopted. However, they emphasized that these felines can make great companions. Elderly cats are usually more relaxed and less likely to cause damage to furniture. In fact, cats with health issues can teach their owners the true meaning of love and patience. It is also believed that black cats bring good fortune. Maria also mentioned that some people have questioned the choice of Bowie’s name since the singer did not possess heterochromia. Nonetheless, the owner felt that Bowie was the ideal name for her cat because of his distinctive blue and green eyes and unique nose marking.
